  • When employees face discrimination in the workplace, they are more likely to be less productive, take more sick time, and even leave the company, costing businesses money; and companies with less diversity are less attractive to new hires. DEI is an important issue to most workers, especially to those who have experienced some form of discrimination in the past.
  • DEI is an emotional issue — discrimination can lead to anxiety and depression in those who experience it, and discussion around DEI can inspire anger in others who believe it is a distraction or imposition. 
  • Companies will need to create thoughtful strategies that include a strong education component, highlighting how and why DEI can have a positive effect on everyone within an organization.
