Home Prices Rose 5.5% in October: Black Knight

U.S. home prices rose 5.5% in October 2015, compared to the previous year, according to Black Knight Financial Services.

The Black Knight home price index climbed to $254,000 in October, according to a Monday news release. The index is based on repeat sales data taken from public records and from Black Knight's mortgage performance data.

Prices in New York rose 1.1%, the fastest growth rate among all states. Nevada and Utah tied for second at 0.8%, followed by South Carolina and New Jersey at 0.7%.

Connecticut saw home prices fall by 0.6%, the fastest rate of decline. Minnesota was second with a decline of 0.5%, followed by Ohio, California and Missouri.

Prices in metro New York rose 1.2% from a year ago. The second-largest U.S. metro area, Los Angeles, saw prices fall 0.2%. Chicago home prices fell 0.1%. Dallas prices rose 0.3% and Houston home prices rose 0.1%.
