Genworth Promotes Global MI Head Kevin Schneider to COO

Genworth Financial Inc. has named Kevin Schneider, currently executive vice president of global mortgage insurance, as its chief operating officer. He starts the new job on Jan. 1, 2016 and will be responsible for all the daily operations and operating performance of the company. He will also continue overseeing global MI operations.

Schneider took over running the global mortgage insurance business in May 2012 after having served in various senior leadership roles for the company's U.S. Mortgage Insurance business since Genworth's IPO in 2004. Rohit Gupta currently is president and CEO of Genworth U.S. Mortgage Insurance.

"Kevin brings significant experience to this position, including leading the U.S. Mortgage Insurance business through the financial crisis, and was instrumental in its return to profitability," said Genworth Financial CEO president and CEO Tom McInerney. "Further, leading Global MI, he has strengthened our MI businesses by driving greater integration and collaboration across platforms. He is a strong and effective leader and I am pleased he now will expand his influence as he assumes the responsibility for the U.S. Life Insurance businesses in addition to his existing oversight of the MI businesses."
