Mortgage Rates Rise for Second Straight Week: Freddie

Interest rates on fixed-rate mortgages rose for the second straight week, according to Freddie Mac.

The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 3.68% for the week ending March 10, according to Freddie Mac's weekly Primary Mortgage Market Survey. That was 4 basis points higher than last week. The rate is 18 basis points lower than a year ago.

The 15-year fixed-rate mortgage rose 2 basis points from last week to an average of 2.96%. It was 3.1% a year ago.

The five-year Treasury-indexed hybrid adjustable-rate mortgage averaged 2.92%, 8 basis points higher than last week, and 9 basis points lower than a year ago.
